Idioms

Idioms are groups of words that, when put together, have a meaning that is different from their usual, literal meaning. An example of an idiom is ‘A lot on my plate’. Literally, it might make you think of a plate full of food, but as an idiom it means that someone has a lot of tasks, responsibilities or difficult things to deal with.
